Introduction
Thorough and complete on-site training and education is now a service of Batts Audio, Video, & Lighting. These comprehensive courses, Technical Theater Today, combine a dynamic curriculum with single or multiple day class options to provide uncompromised technical training in the world of theater and fine arts.
Today's theatrical technology often collides with limited resources and leaves you with a staff that has to learn the ins and outs of lighting, sound, and stage on their own. Technical Theater Today, or T3, courses provide a cost effective way to introduce, expose, and involve participants to open the doors of creativity and confidence behind the scenes.
Seminar Structure and Focus
Technical Theater Today provides a curriculum that is suitable for students, educators, facility staff, and program directors just to name a few. All T3 seminars can be structured to fit your needs and your budget. Below you will find T3's standard courses. Courses can even be customized for instruction in specific applications or with installed facility equipment. Call us for more details about custom T3 courses.
Batts AVL's seminars that are multi-day have hands-on opportunities for learning. It is often hard to understand how complex zoom ellipsoidals work or how feedback problems can be corrected from the sound board. But with equipment in front of them, students can learn to become proficient in technical theater in days.
Often one of the most neglected areas in training and application is safety. Technical Theater Today courses pay special attention to the importance of safety on and around the stage. Rigging practices to electrical checks are all part of T3 courses that provide the knowledge to work safely and reduce the chance of accidents.
Materials
Technical Theater Today courses provide each attendee a course material manual that is packed with information that will provide the tools to make sure students hold on to the course lessons. Each manual comes complete with section on lighting design, fixture types, color theory, sound design, acoustic studies, example interconnection, electrical safety, and a glossary of common technical theater terms. These manuals also provide information for contacting Batts AVL after the course for questions and problems that may come concerning your facility.
T3 courses can be structured to fit your specific needs, but all the courses follow a fundamental outline of study. Check out our course outline to find out more details about the structure and the materials of Technical Theater Today.
